Build a small tool your team uses every day, or connect the systems you already have so information stops being copied by hand. The exceptions are tested as well as the ordinary path, and a person is told when a step needs attention.

When it helps

A repeat task crosses several tools, or the team needs a small tool that no product does quite right. Start with one process and the exceptions that make it difficult.

How the work runs

Map the job. Map the current steps, who owns each one and where information changes hands.

Build or connect. Build the tool or connect the agreed systems on your own accounts, so nothing is typed in twice.

Test the exceptions. Test the ordinary path and the exceptions, including how a person learns that a step needs attention.

What you keep

Keep an explanation of the connections, where they run and what your team should do when a step fails. The handover and responsibility for ongoing operation are agreed before work begins.

What it does not promise

An integration depends on the permissions and capabilities of the systems involved. Agree those dependencies and the scope of maintenance before relying on it for a daily process. The scope and price are agreed before work begins.

The illustration is conceptual artwork, not a screenshot of a customer system.

Talk through the problem

Bring the task, the systems involved and what you want to improve. We agree the scope before work starts.
